About Healthy Concerts
Healthy Lifestyle
To have a choice you need alternatives. When it comes to meeting people and enjoying Live acoustic music, open houses offer (we believe) a much needed alternative to clubs and bars, which are compromised by commercial considerations, largely based on the intake of alcohol, and which can never provide the optimum conditions for simply listening. In addition, our concerts happen in the heart of the community and are usually suitable for both adults and children.
World View
The idea of a global network of musical open houses is an inspiring vision for humanity. Our members are not only helping to establish local Healthy Concerts and encourage the artists who give them, they are investing in the resources needed to support house concert initiatives throughout the country - and why not the world?
Ethos
House concerts are both new and ancient. Today they are a message of hope that carries a promise of fulfillment for the many human beings that long to touch others with their heart-felt song. Healthy Concerts invites you to recognize the poetry, music and creative spirit that is abundant in our communities. It is your own song that you will set free. Become a member http://www.healthyconcerts.com/join/ today and start to benefit from the lifestyle.
An Eden project for the singer-songwriter
We are hearing music as it wouldn't otherwise be heard, pieces seldom heard before (if ever) and inspired by the healthy concert experience. There is a qualitative difference. Gigs in digs present a positive challenge to performers - vocal projection without a microphone, specific communication skills, a whole new repertoire...
Background
Launched in Brighton in 1994, Healthy Concerts' friendly open houses continue to build a new audience for genuinely unplugged acoustic music.
Paul Chi founded Healthy Concerts in 1993. A Card was placed with a news agent in Brighton courting interest in the idea of creating healthy venues for live acoustic music... My Story
Pooka launched Healthy Concerts in 1994 by giving the first ever gigs in digs performance. Since then healthy concerts have been a regular occurrence at many home venues in the Brighton and East Sussex area of the UK.
