"Beth Somerford writes on that fine line between the clear-eyed & the lyrical, where imagination thrives." Beth has been writing poetry since 2005 and is a member of the Cannon poets, based in Birmingham. She has had poems published in Magma, Equinox, Iota, Orbis, The Cannon’s Mouth and the French Literary Review. Her poetry deals mainly with the lines that connect and divide people, is sometimes comical, always touching. Her performances are intimate and engaging, with a "rich, vivid way of communicating her truth". She has recently developed a two-hander performance with fellow Cannon poet Don Barnard - Out of our Depths, which is a sort of near-miss of minds, a rueful review of what happens when men and women get their wires crossed.
