Jane Bom-Bane Booms in Edinburgh?
After a quiet start, local singer Jane Bom-Bane produces another hit show in Edinburgh. The show, "Jane Bom-Bane's Greatest Hats", which features her top ten mechanical hats with a parade of original songs and tunes on the harmonium to match, saw Jane singing a selection of her old favourites alongside new material and her latest creation, 'Jane Bom-Bane's House' hat.
Richard Sissons of Kit and the Widow announced at their show that J B-B was the 'original queen of cabaret' and urged their audiences to go and see her. And of her hat songs, Dave Gorman said, "Jane Bom-Bane is utterly refreshing and unlike anything I've ever seen or heard before." Critic of Festival publication "Three Weeks" wrote that this year's show was "intriguing, charming and unique" and said she "probably has a revolving mind."
Jane has been nominated for the Tap Water Award, the prestigious alternative to the Perrier Comedy Awards, which recognises originality and excellence in all areas of performance.
When asked to comment on a recent report on TV report about artists with small attendances at the start of the Fringe, she explained:
"It is becoming increasingly difficult for small independent acts with restricted budgets to compete with the enormous publicity machine that the Fringe has become host to. However, audiences grew as the Festival got under way, and it is refreshing and encouraging that shows such as Mervyn Stutter's Pick of the Fringe and establishments like the Bongo Club still give a platform for performers like me who are on the fringe of the Fringe?"
New tour dates to be announced soon.
