Profile

Lyz has been working in the mind, body, spirit arena since 1981, and has studied many aspects of this field. She has taught for fourteen years’ within both mainstream and private adult education – she is now in the final year of a Masters Degree in Education.

In 1995 she began researching the use of sound for healing and transformation and developed an effective technique for improving health and well-being using Himalayan singing bowls, voice and crystal bowls. This technique is now taught at the British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST). BAST was the first school in the UK to offer a formal recognised qualification in Sound Therapy and is affiliated to several major membership bodies for Complementary Medicine in the UK.

Lyz’s work encompasses crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, voice, Mantra Therapy, Drum Therapy, Tuning Forks and Gong Therapy. She is also believed to be among the first in the world to produce a range of sound essences. In 2004 Lyz attended a Health Rhythms® facilitator’s training course and is a consultant to schools, hospitals and centres. She is aiming to introduce a ‘Healthy Sound’ protocol into schools in the UK in 2007.

Her work has received very positive feedback and support from the general public as well as the press with numerous features in magazines, newspapers and radio and television in the UK and overseas and has had numerous articles published in health journals. Lyz is in the process of writing her first book.

Lyz is a consultant to the Institute for Complementary Medicine, and assesses other sound therapists in the UK. Although based at BAST in West Sussex, England Lyz also gives performances and runs talks, workshops and presentations all over the UK and overseas.

Performing is very close to Lyz's heart and she enjoys creating sonic stories. Lyz also has composed two CD’s, Chakra Balance and Crystal and Stone. Her latest CD Emergence, is a joint project with her ensemble ‘Soundscapes’ where she is joined by Clifford Sax and Lianne Fagon (see profiles). Two further recordings are soon to be released. She also performs with Soundscapes in some of the most wonderful locations such as Stonehenge and The Chalice Well.
