Mickey Wynne was born in Liverpool and taught guitar by his father at the tender age of six. He started writing music at the age of nine. Mickey joined his first band at fifteen, a punk band called Captain Zombie And The X-Ray Plates. At sixteen he was teaching Julian Lennon guitar. Mickey's career as a singer songwriter has taken him across three continents,Europe, America and Asia, accumulating a rare depth of musical experiences along the way, stopping off to work with Terence Trent D'arby, Sisters Of Mercy's Andreas Broon and Patricia Morrison, Mott The Hoople's Steve Hyams, a myriad of Irish musicians including Mick Flynn and the Dubliners and platinum selling producers Ron Magness and Pierre Tubbs. Studios he worked in have included Abbey Road ("The Wiseguys" album), New York's Electric Ladyland studio ("The Sound Of Y" album) thru to Shedab studios in downtown Karachi. He recently wrote with and played the last tour with the legendary Tim "Morning Dew" Rose before his untimely death.
Mickey's American band is The Pioneers which included The Who's John Entwistle on bass. It is Probably John's last album project before he passed on in 2002. The Pioneers recently had released their debut album "The Pioneers feat. Guest Pioneer John Entwistle" out on www.voiceprint.co.uk/Pioneers and will be showcasing in the US in June. From the Pioneers album, Mickey was commissioned by London Transport to re-record his song "Jubilee Line" the recording of which is now available at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden. It is the first music CD to go on sale at the London Transport Museum. He has been promoting his music on London radio stations and a live appearance at the 12 Bar Club in Denmark Street with his band The Shady Grove. Members include Phil Quinton of Monophobia on bass, Dave Bateman on drums, Janos Bajtala on keyboards, and special guest Madeleine on vocals (courtesy of Muse Records).
Mickey has also been in the studio producing other artists, Alex Berry (with Phil Quinton) and is currently working on projects at his Hove studio including tracks with former Pop Idol KT Neiman, X Factor star Shiva and Miranda Christedes. Mickey recently had a UK top 30 hit with Chris Coco ("Only Love") and a top 10 hit in Ireland ("the Knacker") with his friend and collaborator, actor/musician Patrick Bergin .
Writing projects currently include a musical he is finishing and a film score for later this year.
