The Lemon and Honey Club
1. Promoting live entertainment that draws attention to Environment & peace & justice issues
2. Speaking from my experiences both in Israel and Palestine, and as a long-standing peace campaigner.

I was brought up in a military background attending military schools which led to my basic training in a branch of the British Army which specialized in creating military leaders:-) However, due to serious questioning of my life and a general feeling of disillusionment and the realization of the pointlessness of my education and all that I had been told, I left the Armed Forces and reverted to a lifestyle of nihilism and escape.

After many years I eventually found some answers, nourishment and inner fulfilment through various Buddhist centres and monasteries in the UK and Asia. After spending 3 years in Buddhist Monasteries (as a Buddhist Monk) and also travelling around Asia and the Middle East for several years.

I settled in Brighton in 2001 & became a full time activist in the anti-war movement, helping to promote various cabaret, music and film nights.
Some of the proceeds from the concerts enabled a group of us to spend 3 weeks in Palestine working with internationals, Palestinians and Israelis engaged in various forms of human rights work. The following year I returned to Palestine and shot footage and spent a year co-produced the film `Bury my heart in Palestine`, which had a 200 strong audience when shown at the Duke of York’s Cinema, Brighton in February 2006.

Other aspects of my work include highlighting the arms trade in the UK and various companies who flout internationally recognized human rights agreements. Many of the campaigns and actions, which I have been involved with, have become high profile and have been covered in the mainstream media. From this I have learnt a lot about international law.

Another area of my work has been Dharma Yatra’s, which are walks in silence, which promote inner and outer peace, for one and all. Apart from several one-day events we also held two, three-week walks in 2003 & 2004. We walked across Southern and Northern parts of the UK. Several hundred people joined the Dharma Yatra and many people were touched and inspired by the Yatra's.

In relation to my work in the Middle East, I would like to state that I would like for nothing more than the situation to improve for both Israelis and Palestinians. Sadly though I feel that I must point out, as I often do when I have given public talks, that I am not fond of reference to the Israel/Palestinian conflict as just a series of tit for tat type responses, it is not!
It is indeed true that terrible and tragic events occur in Israel and suffering exists, however until you have spent time in both places, you can’t really begin to understand the scale and intensity of the day by day and often hour by hour, suffering and degradation inflicted upon the civilian Palestinian population.
My friend Caoimhe Butterly, sums it up quite well in her talks, she compares the situation in Palestine to "a slow, drip by drip form of genocide".

What I write above is really just an account of my feelings based upon my extensive travel over the region about 10 times within the last 8 years and a kind of summary of what I have come across and seen with my eyes. My original journey to Israel in 2000 was to check out my Jewish roots and to make connections within Israel. It constantly amazes me just how ignorant I was then to the whole Israel/Palestinian conflict.

I have to really question, with the intensity of what I have seen going on within the occupied territories, am I able to remain impartial?
It is hard indeed..

In December 2006 I travelled to Israel and Palestine and donated the money raised from our previous Healthy Concerts to the Israeli committee against house demolitions, the freedom theater in Jenin and to the International solidarity movement.
Various groups in which Palestinians and Israeli's work together for Justice, Peace and a future..

My recent concerts have all had a theme, mostly an existential one.
As some music really provokes serious philosophical questions.
I reckon that by descriptive and intuitive points of reference, the nights themselves may, as well as being arenas for fun, feeling and colour, also be places where one can come and explore their shared experience and hopefully grow in some way..

The Eco clothing company Conscious clothing Brighton ( www.ecofibres.co.uk ) is a kind of summary of my lifes work, in the form of the clothing designs, the website, charity work, the whole project itself, is all about environment and reaching out..
Please watch a short film which touches upon some interesting topics close to my heart- http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=t9SK0BcsuP8
